Rwanda/The Project for the Improvement of Substations and Distribution Network (Phase 3) Contract

 We, TAKAOKA ENGINEERING CO., LTD. (hereinafter “TEC”, President: Akihiko Ichikawa, Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo), a subsidiary of TAKAOKA TOKO CO., LTD. (President: Toshiro Takebe, Headquarters: Koto-ku, Tokyo) have received a contract of a project named “The Project for the Improvement of Substations and Distribution Network (Phase 3)” for the Republic of Rwanda from The Energy Development Corporation Limited in Rwanda (hereinafter “EDCL”).

 Through this project funded by JICA, a new substation and distribution line and transmission line will be constructed to strengthen the power supply to Kigali city, the capital of Rwanda. This project is undertaken by two companies, TEC and NISHIZAWA LIMITED (President: Daisuke Hattori, Headquarters: Osaka City) as a consortium. TEC is responsible for the procurement, installation, and engineering of electrical equipment.
 
 In Kigali city, the power supply has been unstable due to insufficient investment in substation and distribution facilities resulting in 20% transmission loss or more. This situation has impacted on the economic activities and the citizen’s lives in Kigali city. Through this project, we will carry out the following construction work to stabilize the unstable power supply and can contribute to the improvement of the economic activities and the citizen's lives.

 In Rwanda, The Project for Improvement of Substations and Distribution Network (Phase1) in 2011 and (Phase 2) in 2016 were implemented by TEC. Also, TEC has completed some electric power supply constructions, including solar generation and diesel electric power generation, in neighbor countries such as Tanzania and Malawi, and Liberia and Sierra Leone in Western Africa. Our vision is to positively expand our business activity into African countries expected more development in the future.
