Energy Saving by Efficiency Improvement of Water Treatment Plants of Phnom Penh Water Supply Authority (2018) Cambodia
Energy Saving by Efficiency Improvement of Water Treatment Plants of Phnom Penh Water Supply Authority (2018) Cambodia《Background of the project》
Phum Prek Water Treatment Plant owned by Phnom Penh Water Supply Authority, was built by Japanese ODA project, and it has been operating since the 1990s. However, the most facilities including pump system have deteriorated and are far less energy efficient than those used currently in Japan.
In order to effectively address climate change mitigation issue, it is necessary to achieve low-carbon growth all around the world by mobilizing technology, market, and finance adequately. Recognizing this necessity, the government of Japan has proposed the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) as a means to facilitate the diffusion of leading low-carbon technologies, systems, and so forth in developing countries.
